Expectations of Students
πͺ Stay committed
- Show up to Bootcamp lectures! They are mandatory!
- While we are not giving you a letter grade for your work/participation in the bootcamp, your attendance, participation, & work ethic (are you doing your homework? etc) will be taken into account when recommending boot campers for BoG Designer roles at the end of the semester.
- The Bootcamp should take up between 3-5 hours per week, including class time.
- Some weeks will be way less time, while others may require more time.
π» Do your work
- You get out of this boot camp what you put into it. You need to actually do the assignments and participate in class in order to effectively learn and be able to apply the design and research principles taught.
- Do your Weekly UI assignments. These are weekly, one-off mini-assignments to practice honing your visual design/user interface skills. These are not optional unless otherwise specified. We will randomly select 3 students at the beginning of each class to present their Week UI assignments.
- Do your project work. You will work on a semester-long project with an assigned partner. Each week, you will have a different task related to this assignment. You will have 2 mini-checkpoint presentations throughout the semester; however, we (the instructors) will not be checking your progress every week so it is imperative you stay disciplined and do the work in a timely manner yourself. Save yourself the stress and donβt put off the whole project until the last week.
π€ Be a good collaborator
- You will be working with a partner on a semester-long project. Make sure you communicate with them, listen to them, treat them with respect, and share the work evenly.
- Learning to collaborate effectively is a skill that will take you very far as a designer (:
